You can add the beauty of wicker lamps to a variety of room designs. Many people associate wicker with Oriental room decor or cottage style design. These lamps are certainly ideal for those room decorating styles, but the wide selection of lamp styles available allows you to attractively incorporate wicker lighting in a contemporary, eclectic, or modern style room.

Wicker decorative table lamps are a beneficial addition to any room. They allow you to create small cozy spaces in a large room. In a living area, you might want to add several decorative table lamps that have a wood, metal, or wrought iron base and a wicker shade. Depending on the room design you hope to achieve, you might prefer  decorative table lamps that have both a wicker base and a wicker shade. One other option is to place a few wicker lamps around the room that have a wicker base and shade that are made of paper or fabric.

Sometimes, there will be a dark, often unnoticed corner of a room. With the addition of a wall sconce, you can transform that space into a softly lit area that will add beauty to the room. There are various styles of wicker wall sconces to select from. There is a style of sconce that provides subtle illumination behind a curved dark wicker shade. This light would enhance the beauty of a bedroom or family room. A wrought iron sconce with a wicker shade could be added to an entryway, living area, or dining room. If you need to light up a small area that has no electrical outlet nearby, a battery operated wicker wall sconce could be perfect accessory for that space.

Wicker swag lamps allow you to place the light directly over a specific space. This type of lighting is an excellent choice for a dining room. If you have an area in the kitchen to eat or a breakfast nook, this would also be an ideal place to use swag lighting. Swags are also a good choice of lighting for a family room. A swag lamp with a scalloped wicker shade is a frequent choice for home decorators. You can select from shades that have a honey colored natural appearance, dark stained wicker, white shades or you can paint the shade in a color that enhances your decor.

Floor lamps add a decorative touch to any room. There are styles of wicker floor lamps that have a tower style base made of iron with a wicker shade on top. If you would like something a little different, a floor lamp with three lights covered with intricate wicker shades would be a good choice. A modern designed room typically has sleek, sophisticated furnishings. A stunning addition to a modern style living room, dining room, or bedroom would be one or more floor lamps constructed with a combination of sea grass and wicker. The unique styling of a wrought iron floor lamp wrapped with wicker would also be an excellent addition to a modern style room.

Asian style wicker lamps frequently have an urn style base and a bell shaped wicker shade. Sometimes there is scroll type detailing that adds elegance to the lamp design. You can also easily find Oriental lantern style table lamps made of wicker.

Hand woven PVC wicker lamps are designed for outdoor use. These lamps make an attractive addition to an exterior living space. You can find wicker floor lamps, table lamps, or wicker pendant lights that are suitable for outdoor use.

Desk and decorative table lamps may at first seem to be the same thing but there is most definitely a slight difference in these two items as regards their functionality. Decorative table lamps might be seen as the more decorative type of lamp, perhaps used for some armchair reading but typically just to add more light to a room. In the case of Tiffany style decorative table lamps, it is easy to see how these types of lamps can also be used as a decorative piece by day.

Desk lamps on the other hand have a more definite function as they are used to provide light for tasks (and therefore are used for task lighting). Ideally used for work such as computer work, studying, typing etc. Desk lamps and study lamps are synonymous as these can either be placed on a desk, or can be fitted or connected to a shelf or other piece of the furniture nearby. Usually these are fixed using a clasp or clamp.

Clamp-on task lights occupy very little of the precious desk space but tend to only really fit properly/adjust properly in a limited number of places. Many desk lamps come with an adjustable or bendable neck which allows the light source to be twisted around and aimed at an angle that most suits the person who is working.

Also, desk lamps tend to be more functional looking and are just one color, made from plastic/metal and quite plain. But they tend to be quite cleverly engineered to allow them to be bent into many different positions and angles easily and usually with one hand and a light touch and they also need to have quite a heavy base and be sturdy so that they do not tip over easily.

Decorative table lamps and lighting are available in a huge range of styles, designs and sizes. It is not uncommon for the purely decorative table lamps to have intricately adorned lamp bases carved out of expensive materials such as marble. By virtue of being decorative, table lamps lend themselves to much personal design taste because they serve as ornamental objects as well.

Decorative table lamps also provide a nice source of light with which to highlight objects that are placed near the lampshade and effectively bask in the light of the decorative table lamps.

One thing to look out for when purchasing a decorative table lamp is that there should be no glare emanating from the lamp and this is best checked when you are seated, given that most decorative table lamps are placed on a table beside an armchair. Pay particular attention to the lamp height and also to the accompanying lampshade – as a fairly deep shade is needed to avoid glare.

It is possible to coordinate the lampshade of your decorative table lamps with the fabric and furnishings of your room and there are companies that make shades professionally if you want the lamp shade fabric to closely match the rest of the decor in the room.

Task or desk lighting on the other hand will tend to be more functional looking and plain. Nothing fancy or decorative about that. Commonly, most types of modern task lights tend to be tungsten-halogen lights that come with a dimmer.

Most of us would agree that decorative table lamps are a must in just about any household. However, our opinions would undoubtedly begin to diverge on the subject of table lamp height. While some might think  decorative table lamps height is subject to personal tastes, the truth of the matter is that both common and design sense should be the only determining factors in choosing lamp height. Below are some general guidelines you should follow when attempting to find the appropriate height for your decorative table lamps.

Before going out and purchasing any sort of decorative table lamps, you need to focus your attention on the table which the decorative table lamps will sit on. If you’re dealing with side tables, it’s generally a good idea to ensure that your decorative table lamps don’t exceed 3 feet in height. Remember, we don’t want the decorative table lamps to overpower the room.

If you’re dealing with a bit of a bigger table, it’s still a good idea to stay below 4 feet. Again, don’t exaggerate and purchase a monstrosity – it’ll easily distract visitors from an otherwise functional room. If you’re in the market for kitchen decorative table table lamps, you have a bit more flexibility in choosing your lamp’s height. It’s generally recommended that decorative kitchen table  lamps exceed 2 feet in height.

If some sort of disability makes these guidelines seem inconvenient, it might be wise to purchase a floor lamp. While you could exceed these height specifications, you may end up jeopardizing the look of your room. It is best to weigh your options and do what feels best.

I want my room to look nicer so if you can just stay with me through the list of stuff I have in my room to help that would be great. It isn’t a lot it just sounds like a lot.

-My bed doesn’t have a foot or head-board so I can change what side of my bed I sleep on.
-It has a purple comforter with pink and blue abstract flower blossoms on a tree.
-My sham is white with black Polka-dots (you will understand why later).
-I have a pink valentines day teddy bear on my bed, my favorite old stuffed animal which is a pink elephant, a pillow with a pink shimmery decorative pillow case over it, a pillow that says, ‘too sweet to be forgotten (with numbers), a small pink pillow with fuss around the edges and a purple and black zebra print pillow.
-A zebra print rug (that was originally given to me to match my sham).
-Black curtains (they are thin and silky so they don’t make my room look creepy lol).
-I have a black side table with three picture frames, three jewelery boxes, a wii remote charger and a lamp to match my bed set on it.
-I have a wooden double-drawer nightstand with an i-pod docking station and an alarm clock on it.
-A LARGE dresser that takes up most of one wall which matches my nightstand. On my dresser I have a 19" lcd tv, a mirror, six shelves, 8 draws, a fishbowl, makeup, jewelery, perfume bottles and just some little non-important things.
-On top of my dresser I have a lot of collectibles in which will not be going in the trash.
-My closet has a lot of space on the floor, no space on the rack though.

My walls have hippy stickers, alien (cute) stickers, posters and silly drawings from friends.

Help! I am NOT getting rid of any of this but I need to know where I should put stuff to change it around.

BTW I have two windows.

My lamp says to ONLY use a 60 Watt, Type B bulb……At the store I found a 60 Watt bulb but it doesn’t say what the type is. It does say however it is a "Bent Tip" Decorative bulb, for Chandeliers, sconces or anywhere the bulb is visible. Will this bulb work? My lamp is just a regular table lamp with a regular lamp shade.

It is a table decoration depicting 2 men holding the moon (which is a lamp as well) with chains. It broke into way too many pieces to put back together, but it seems a waste to throw out all the marble. Does anyone buy back pieces of marble? Most of the pieces are small, but there are one or two larger pieces.

I want to hang a picture that is 12" wide x 15" tall above a 23" wide half circle table in my hallway. I have a lamp on one edge that is 18" tall (including shade) and a small decorative statue on the other edge that is about 9" tall. How high should I hang the picture which I want to place above the statue? Is there a rule of thumb?

Im 14, i have a very good taste in color for my age. Im not into the pink and neon colors all over my room, i want something decorative and modern, something warm welcoming. So picture this in your mind. My room is about the size of a guest room, in other words its a small room, but its about normal sized. The bed is a full bed and takes up about half of the room. In front of it is a big polished light brown wooden dresser, well not a dresser, it has a whole bunch of drawers, with a mirror on it, its about 8 feet long. let me give you a diagram of my room. ( looking from above)

…………….Big dresser/mirror window

window…………………………………………… closet
bedside table Bed bedside table

(ignore the dots between window and closet, it wouldn’t let me put that many spaces) I have teal walls, gold curtains, white lamps, glossed wood furniture, and a white ceiling. my closet has 2 doors and they are white with wood handles. i have teal pillows, and a tannish goldish bedspread. any different colors for the lamps, or any decor ideas? Im redoing my room (: also, any colored storage bins maybe? thank you so much! come on, 10 points best answer PLUS ill answer yours ! (btw i hate my carpet but i cant get it ripped out or changed, but its like a dusty rose but its darker. its ugly. rugs?) thanks for everything!

I bought a marble queen about two weeks ago and when i did she was in pretty bad shape (completely dried out) so I watered her and she looked pretty good. I have her on my hall table under a small decorative lamp that stays on a good 12-14 hours a day. I’ve noticed the ends of bigger leaves browning and some new growth is turning yellow and falling off. There’s still quite a bit of big pretty vibrant green leaves but the browning and yellowing is scaring me. What should I do? I realllyyyyyy don’t want to see her kick the bucket.
Its under a little 13 watt bulb…sufficient?
